I posted this photo to my gallery and got a good response to it, so I thought I'd share it here.

Cool beans. I was co-winner of last week's scavenger hunt at [info]photodementia. I'm surprised, because I only posted 22 of the 30 items. If I'd known I was that close, I'd have tried harder. My pics are posted here, if you're interested.

Anyway, I get to choose half of the items for this week's hunt. My list:

1. choice
2. authority
3. point
4. symmetry
5. bad for your health
6. a welcome sign
7. something you can't live without
8. opposites
9. half
10. something you take for granted
11. drop
12. hidden
13. determination
14. unfinished
bonus: a picture that fits the caption, "It's been one of those days!"

It doesn't seem very imaginative. I probably should have put more thought into it, but I was in a bit of a time crunch. (That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.*g*)

Insomnia has its advantages, I suppose. It's a whole different world when the sun is just coming up and the fog is hanging thick and the dew is heavy.

Subject:hurricanes
Security:Public

Having been born and raised on the gulf coast, I've seen more than my share of hurricanes over the years. I've even ridden out two category five storms, one of which claimed hundreds of lives. As a kid, I loved the excitement of an approaching storm. School let out, businesses shut down, and it was almost a holiday atmosphere (from a kid's POV) as everyone rushed around battening down and boarding up. I didn't fully understand the danger until many years later.

That said, Dennis has me nervous. It exploded into a *very* dangerous storm overnight, on the verge of becoming a category five, which is a killer. They're saying it could be the worst hurricane to hit this area in 200 years. I no longer live close enough to the coast to be affected by manditory evacuation, but I do live in its expected path once it starts moving upstate, and I have a lot of family still in Mobile and Pensacola. If you would, remember us through the next day or two with a prayer or good thought.

Just in case we're driven to a shelter or are without power for a few days, I went ahead and posted my entry in [info]photodementia's scavenger hunt early. I found everything on the list! Yay me! And believe me, a three-legged dog is not an easy thing to find! *g*

My entry into [info]photodementia's weekly challenge contest. The theme is "something red."

You know, if I got out more, I would have something interesting to write here. Maybe.

There was a brief rain shower yesterday afternoon, but I lost the light too quickly to get more than a few pictures. The ones I got, though, were pretty good, at least as far as reflections go. I've still got to work on my focus. Even with a tripod, I manage to blur them around the edges. I may well be hopeless, but that won't keep me from trying.

Don't know why, but I just love that. Okay, maybe I do know why. I have kids. ^_^

Or so they say. Can't say I know a whole lot about silence. *g*

And thank you, G, for 25 interesting years. The speed bumps we've encountered have often slowed us down, but they've never stopped us. Here's to 25 more.

We had a monsoon of a thunderstorm move through late yesterday afternoon, but the sun came back out for about an hour afterward. A great opportunity for some waterdrop pictures... or so you would think. I took over 100 pics, but I'd only call about 20 of them decent, and only about half of those are what I was after. Not very good odds. Everyday I realize all over again how much I have to learn.
